EMPLOYMENT TERMS

EVALUATION: an act or instance of evaluating or appraising
ASSESMENTS: the act of assessing; appraisal; evaluation
BACKROUND CHECK: Used by employers to verify the accuracy of the information you provide on your resume or job application and beyond
BENEFITS: An important part of your compensation package, and part of the salary negotiation process
COLD CALL: When a job-seeker approaches an employer (usually through an uninvited cover letter) who has not publicly announced any job openings

SALARY: Financial compensation an employee receives for performing the job, and part of your compensation package
TELECOMMUTING: Also referred to as Teleworking, is a employment arrangement where the employee works one or more days from a remote location, often an office in the employee's home
TEMPING: Working short employment stints with a variety of clients, usually through a temping agency or staffing firm
